General Information

Q: What is E-Check?

A: The E-Check service lets you pay bills online. The only payments not recommended through the E-Check service are court-ordered payments, state and federal tax payments, and international payments. With E-Check you can send money to anyone with an address in the United States. Your bills are paid out of the checking account that you have with the Modesto's First Federal Credit Union, the Credit Union you trust.

The E-Check features let you:

  • Pay anyone, anytime, anywhere in the United States, from your mortgage lender to your newspaper carrier.
  • Set up repeating payments, such as a car payment or rent.
  • Schedule single payments in advance.

Q: How does E-Check work?

A: E-Check consists of a bill payment service linked to your M1FCU checking account. There are two basic steps involved in using the bill payment service:

  1. Set up your payees.
  2. Schedule payments.

Set up your payee list by adding the payees to whom you want to make payments. You only need to add each account you have with a payee one time. However, if the payee’s information changes (address, phone number, etc.), you will need to update the payee’s information on the E-check system. For additional information, see the E-Check Instructions also located at M1FCU’s website.

Q: After I enter my information, when can I start to use E-Check?

A: You can immediately begin to send E-Check payments after you have set-up your payees.

Q: How secure is my E-Check information?

A: E-Check uses several methods to ensure that your information is secure.

  • User Name and Password: Your account number and password are unique identifiers that only you know. As long as you don't share your account number and password with anyone, no one can sign in to E-Check as you.
  • SSL: E-Check uses SSL (secure sockets layer) which ensures that your connection and information are secure from outside inspection.
  • Encryption: E-Check uses 128-bit encryption (which your browser will need to support) to make your information unreadable as it passes over the Internet.
  • Automatic Sign Out: In addition, E-Check automatically signs you out of a session if you are inactive for several minutes. It is best if you sign out immediately after you are finished using E-Check.

Q: Am I billed for E-Check service?

A: M1FCU does not charge a fee for E-Check regardless of the amount of times you use the service.

Q: I have a question about how to use one of E-Check’s features.

A: Detailed E-Check instructions are also located at M1FCU’s site. If you need further assistance you can e-mail a Credit Union staff member at info@m1fcu.org. You can also reach a Credit Union staff member at (209) 521-2020 or (888) 945-2020 during business hours.
